I had a lovely time at the Ormidale Hotel. All the staff were very friendly and both the room and the food was excellent. My only nitpick is that it would have been nice to have a better fan, as the one provided did not do very much and the day I arrived was quite warm, making the room very hot. I understand that this is not normally the case with weather in Brodick though, so it's probably not a big deal, and the next couple days were a lot nicer as it cooled down.
Tips:The hotel is pretty centrally located and Brodick is quite easy to walk around with some beautiful seaside views. I spent most of my time doing the goatfell hike which was definitely worth it, although decently challenging. Also I highly recommend the food at the Ormidale. I never ate anywhere else to be honest cause it was so good.

Excellent hosts always available and very friendly. Room was very pleasant with a view and bedding changed midweek with fresh towels. Only one area maybe could improve. As we had wet days we struggled to find hooks on doors etc to hang up our wet clothes. Thank you for another great stay at your hotel. See you next year.
Tips:Good great in Ormidale especially the steal and alle pie. Delicious. Other restaurants try Brambles in Auchrannie resort and The Patlour for pizza takeaways excellent. Brodick Castle and Gardens a must visit and if your walkers - Goatfell, Glenashdale Falls and the Cock of Arran. Lastly a trip to Holy Isle well worth it.

Had a lovely few days at the Ormidale Hotel for the Highland Games weekend. I’ve been going every year for almost 10 years now and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Great/friendly staff, lovely food, clean bedroom, in a fantastic location just a 2 minute walk from the beach and shops. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island.
Tips:The food here is delicious. I’d also recommend Little Rock, a visit to Brodick castle and if you like walking a walk up goat fell is highly recommended.

Very well situated at the end of the main street. An issue on the first day was quickly rectified by Laura. Laura and bar staff very friendly and welcoming and hotel definitely has the family feel about it. My dog was made welcome and a breakfast table was set up in the bar each morning to allow her to be with me. Breakfast was very good as were the bar meals. Nicer to eat in the conservatory rather than the bar as the tables and chairs in bar not particularly comfy.
Tips:Would recommend this hotel for solo women travellers. You can walk up and over the hill to Lamlash from the edge of the hotel. It is a lovely off-road trail, and if you don't want to walk back, take the bus, which permits dogs on board. I would recommend the Lagg Inn for coffee and cake, and again, they also allow dogs in the bar.

I love the Ormidale Hotel. Fantastic staff, extremely friendly, great food and very comfortable rooms.
Tips:Bodrick is a great little town, with excellent faciliies. There are very good restaurants and takeaways, supermarkets and specialist shops, including Arran gift shops, outdoor activities, and an excellent cheese shop. The whole island is a hikers paradise, catering for the the adventurous and for the not so adventurous. There are also some great beaches dotted around the island. There is also an outdoor adventure centre, and a reputable tour company for trips into the mountains.

Staff were excellent, helpful, friendly and considerate. Rooms were clean and comfortable, food was delicious especially the breakfast, lots of choice and would also make other dishes not on the menu. Evenings were quite busy in the bar and restaurant but we always found a seat, quiet and peaceful during day. Short walk to shops and ferry terminal and buses available at end of road ( our ferry was cancelled so unable to bring the car over but used the buses to see places so didn’t stop us getting out and about). There was 4 in our party and we had a wonderful long weekend. Thank you.

Excellent location and characterful hotel. Laura, the owner, and all staff very helpful and friendly.
Tips:So many things to do and see on Arran. The Lochranza Distillery is most certainly worth a visit. The Ormidale hotel is ideally situated to explore Brodick. I normally walk the coastal path to Lamlash but this time, on the advice of Laura, I took the inland path past the Fairy Pools and it was a delightful gently undulating walk of just over 4 miles. Will most certainly do it again.

I was one of a party of 8 golfers and we stayed at the Ormidale for 4 nights and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a quiet location but is very close to all Brodick has to offer including being only a two minute walk to the golf club and Brodicks Main Street. The rooms were more than adequate and the quality of food on offer whether that be the breakfast provided or meals in the bar restaurant were excellent. The stand out thing for me however was the quality of the service provided during our stay, the staff were all so friendly and accommodating and they simply could not do enough for you. We will be returning to The Ormidale and I would recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed very much my stay in this very charming hotel with the garden and the cheerful friendly owners. The room feels slightly small perhaps because of the chairs and tables, otherwise very comfortable. The location is great as it’s on a quiet road just off the main road on the shore.
Tips:On Sunday the hotel bar hosts folk music so try to be there. The best ice cream shop in the area is just 5 mins walk from the hotel. Nearby there is a nice French food cart that opens Tuesday to Saturday.

Ideal for the one night we stayed. Breakfast choice was good and servers were very pleasant. The ormidale will be our first choice to book on return to arran.

We certainly didn't starve! The Ormidale is full of character with an interesting history, and there was plenty of entertainment every night with Trevor's quizzes and music nights. Never a dull moment! Something for everybody.
Tips:Arran is a beautiful island with plenty to see and do whether you enjoy walking , cycling or simply sitting and looking at the views. Brodick has an excellent chocolate shop, brewery , cheese shop, and Arran Aromatics - all worth a visit , as well as the distilleries at Lochranza and Lagg. The Heritage Museum is a little gem, and Brodick Castle is also worth a visit.

Where to start … from before our stay to the end… we had. Great experience. The rooms are clean and very well presented. The breakfasts amazing and plentiful for a day in the hills… the food and cocktails amazing, however, the highlight has to be the team members, every single one went the extra mile and were so welcoming to us (especially to Frank who was treated like a king) fantastic stay

We loved our stay at The Ormidale Hotel. Everything was exactly as described and as we had hoped, if not better. The team at the hotel were really friendly and worked very hard to look after all guests. The table service was absolutely the best we’ve had in years and made us feel really relaxed. Our family room was just what we needed and we had the most amazing sleep, really struggling to get down for breakfast! We could hear the bar but it was no problem at all. The room was cosy, clean and had a lovely view.. We really enjoyed the evening quizzes. We would definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay.

As pre warned I could hear the noise from the kitchen and bar below until midnight or so but it wasn't too bad. The room was lovely - very clean and nice quirky decor. Hotel itself was full of character as you'd expect from a victorian property. Saw others had commented that the bar smelled old - it did but that's part of the authentic charm of the place. The tofu fried breakfast was delicious- honestly best I've ever tasted.

My friend and I LOVED OUR STAY. and notably so did other guests with whom we chatted. Staff committed to ensuring all guests were looked after and needs met. The breakfast on offer was amazing (from a slice of toast, to porridge, cereals, fresh fruit, creme fraiche eggs whichever way, fish, cheese, all very tasty and well presented. The hotel is surrounded by a mature garden including lots of outside seating. There is even a rope swing where we noticed other guests and visitors having fun. There is also an amazing glasshouse where you can have dinner. Of an evening the hotel puts on entertainment including name the singer of the song, music bingo and general knowledge. I believe there is music on a Friday but we were gone before this. In fact myself and a few other guests were in our 60's and not bothered with any noise. Myself and my friend enjoyed coming back from our evening walk and joined in the evening competition, and had suooer before going to bed. Would not hesitate to recommend. WE HAD FUN..
Tips:We brought a car over which allowed us to drive round the Island and stop wherever we fancied however there are plenty of buses to so you can still get around the island. Its not unusual to see ottors or seals on the way. The Castle I would say is a fantastic and well worthwhile visit. For a Top Class steak dinner and surrounds you can eat at the Brambles in Auchrannie Resort. Keep your bank account topped up for that... We came back with beautiful gifts, cheeses, dundee cake chutney, olives, candles, soaps , perfume and more..

What a wonderful place to stay! The Ormidale couldn't be more , it's a perfect base for exploring Brodick and the rest of Arran. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and spacious and I loved the eco tissues/toiletries -a nice touch! I also loved having the pub downstairs which serves great food (plenty of veggie/vegan options too) as well as having a lovely buzz and atmosphere. It's really nice to come back after a long day and eat, drink and sleep all in one location. I can't wait to come back!
Tips:If you're staying at the Ormidale you have to go downstairs for the quiz and bingo nights! I had such a giggle, everyone was very warm and welcoming and I had plenty of chats with local folk at the bar (this is a real treat as a traveller as it can sometimes be hard to chat to people in the local community) There's so much to do on Arran that it's hard to recommend just one thing to do or see but a quiz/bingo night is definitely up there!

Lovely location. The room was very nice and clean, I asked for clean towels every day as I have an allergy condition, this was no problem to the staff. Breakfasts are great, especially if you are going out for a long walk. Seating outside and glass house very good. We did not go to any of the entertainment in the bar so cannot comment. Ate in restaurant once and the fish and scampi were lovely.
Tips:Only downside to the hotel was the fact we could not get WIFI in the room but I realise this is typical for the islands. Crofters bar had good food and music. Beach bar was lovely and relaxing. Tips:Would recommend Wooleys of Arran for snack food - the best pies we’ve had in all Scotland! We ate at Crofters where there was wonderful live music - food was very good but a little over-priced, we felt. Very friendly helpful staff. Room was very clean with good bed and shower. (A hook on the door and bigger sink would make it perfect). It's a lovely old building with nice decor. Unfortunately it is creaky - this might be fine most of the time but unfortunately my neighbour seemed to be a very early riser which was the only real downside of my stay. I wasn't bothered by any noise from the bar (which I was warned about) as it closed around my bedtime. Excellent large traditional breakfasts (some extra veg might be appreciated). Meals in the bar/conservatory are also large and tasty, and much more affordable than some on offer in the village. Great beer and whisky selection. Enjoyed the quiz and relaxed local atmosphere. Location is convenient for drivers and good walkers - 10 mins walk from coop and restaurants, 5 mins from bus stop up a lane.
Tips:Goatfell can be climbed directly from Brodick. Glen Rosa route is much more interesting than the direct route, but be prepared for some scrambling! Good tours at Lochranza distillery.

A hotel must have comfy beds, a good shower and be clean. The Ormidale does all these in spades, but what sets it above the rest is the friendly welcome and service from Laura, Trevor and their team. You are made to feel immediately at home and are very well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble for them. On top of that the setting is beautiful yet still very conveniently located for everything in Brodick, and they have complimented the beauty of the original building with a new dining area and quirky decor. They have put time, money and care into the hotel as much as they do their guests, and it shows. Trevor also lays on entertaining quizzes and music bingo in the evenings too and this is the bar the locals come to, so you know you are in the right place. We have stayed at 3 places in Brodick, and without doubt this would be my first choice to go back to.
Tips:You will already be staying at the beating heart of Brodick, Trevor and the team put on fun quizzes and the like in the evenings in the bar, so you don't need to worry about finding anywhere else for evening entertainment and drink The food is also very good so you don't need to leave at all (with a beautiful setting outside if the weather is nice). If we do wish to venture out then the pizzas at The Parlour are also worth sampling.

Great pub hotel, very good value, very friendly & helpful staff, lovely breakfast, convenient location in Brodick. Evening meals in the pub or conservatory are ‘pub meals’, beautifully cooked and huge quantities. Incredible attention to cleanliness & masking up for Covid. Good for couples or families. Large beer garden & a couple of swings in the corner for kids. Their usual pub quizzes & music nights were not able to be held due to the Covid restrictions.
Tips:If you are looking for more fine dining (& more expensive) there are 3 or 4 other hotels/restaurants within walking distance. Beach is within easy walking distance, cycle hire, putting & crazy golf. More serious golf course right next to the hotel.

Just Stayed at the Ormidale for a long weekend. Had a beautiful room with a double bed, lovely clean, nice view over the garden. Breakfast was great too with a good selection of choices. I also had a meal with a friend of mine one evening, I had the mac and cheese and she had the Chilli, big portions, absolutely delicious. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful doing a fantastic job especially with the current situation as well, got everything very organised and most importantly I felt safe the whole time I was there. Well done guys see u all again next year.
Tips:The Ormidale is definitely the best place for a meal, drink, quiz night and the disco. I’d also recommend the Douglas hotel, The Brodick Bar, Brodick Club is also a great place. If you like walking Goatfell is definitely a must when going to Arran and Glen Rosa.

Cannot thank the staff enough for being so friendly and accommodating in turning around my room to enable me to check in early. Breakfast was hearty in a lovely setting. I also had dinner in the bar/restaurant downstairs - really good value and generous servings
Tips:Entertainment at the hotel is good with regular pub quizzes, bingo and such, but if you're after something a little more traditional, nearby Brodick Community Hall has a summer Ceilidh on a Wednesday night. The hotel is also close to the 'Fisherman's Walk to the Castle and this is well worth doing - a really beautiful way to see the island.

The Ormidale is a good value hotel which provides a clean en-suite room with an excellent breakfast at a fair price. This includes parking, use of the gardens, a lounge during the day and the lively bar at nights. It also has several single rooms which can keep the price down for the lone traveller. Please be aware, however, that as an older private hotel which is a popular bar and disco with the people of Arran, it is an historic house with rather than a purpose-built hotel. The owners go out of their way to offer help to guests. The breakfast is huge and offers a full range of everthing you could possibly want to eat. The Ormidale is a reasonable walk from the ferry terminal, set well back from the main road, not far from Brodick church. It is possible to walk it if carrying a backpack but with a suitcase, a cab would be preferable. Subject to the understanding that the Ormidale is about warm Scottish hospitality at a very fair price, consistent with the age and conversion standards of the hotel, then I would recommend the Ormidale.
Tips:Midges during the summer are a known menace on Arran. Have an insect repellent and USE it - it is on sale everywhere - and consider a plug-in mosquito killer.

Really friendly helpful staff. We are the couple who couldn't get out of our room but this was sorted promptly with good humour and we knew that you were busy with the school Fair. This is an old building with a long history and is not modern but we found it clean and very comfortable. The breakfasts were really good and varied with any choice being no trouble at all. Although a busy Bar we didn't experience any noise at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiz. We have spent time in The Ormidale Bar and Conservatory over many years first on our honeymoon, with family and now again on our own. In so many ways it was lovely to stay here for our 50th Wedding Anniversary
Tips:We wanted to eat somewhere special and tried Crofters on the first night and promptly booked again for the second. Again staff really welcoming and helpful, good atmosphere and lovely duo playing on Friday evening. The food was excellent someone in the kitchen really knows how to cook and present food in the best way and uses lovely fresh ingredients. We visited many of our favourite places. Easy to get around using local buses if no car, but ferry and passenger deal is competitive. Kings Cave, Shiskine Golf course and clubhouse, Glenashdale Falls Brodick Castle, lovely cheeses just on the edge of Brodick. Many memories .

Everybody at the Hotel made us feel very welcome in a relaxed, efficient manner. On the three nights we stayed, there was a fun quiz in the bar, which we really enjoyed - especially when I displayed my lack of Scottish football Knowledge - to the mirth of all locals! Food most excellent - great quality and choice at breakfast and evenig bar meals - breakfast sausage hard to beat! As Camra member, enjoyed well kept local real ales - choice of three. Hotel in wonderful setting with mature gardens and woods. Room cosy and functional and peaceful and quiet. If you want a great place to stay, this is it!
Tips:If you like oatcakes, no place like Wooleys in Brodick. For a fine house to visit, Brodick castle and grounds. If you want a good walk, Kings Cave on West coast of Arran. Heritage centre very interesting and Arran brewery speaks for itself!

My 82 year old dad stayed here for 3 nights while we rented a house nearby. The staff were great and he was well looked after. I organised the family meal for 11 in this hotel to celebrate my husband’s 60th. I cannot thank the staff enough for making it so special and pulling out all the stops. Especially Lindsay and the lovely young man behind the bar. Thankyou all! We will be back !
Tips:Explore as much of Arran as possible it is a magical island.

We arrived with our 2 bearded collies having just climbed Goat Fell in the pouring rain, and were met with a warm welcome. All of the staff that were working were very helpful and very friendly. The Ormidale is very close to all of the amenities in Brodick, and so we never used our car the rest of the weekend. I am Gluten intolerant, and would just ask you to consider maybe making a bit more gluten free foods available. I had steak each night that I was there as there wasn't anything else. There was gluten free bread available for breakfast. All in all I loved my stay and will be back.

The food was excellent (best macaroni cheese in the world!), the beds were the comfiest hotel beds we've slept in, and the staff were very accommodating. Next time we're in Brodick we'll definitely be looking to stay at the Ormidale Hotel.
Tips:Look out for the huge tree in the driveway - it's a giant sequoia!

Had a lovely stay at the Ormidale Hotel between 12th and 15th April 2019. Very accommodating, considering a last minute change and my wife travelled with me and I had only booked for a single person. Very pleasant, friendly staff and owners. Nice selection of beers, gins and malts in the bar and the food we had for dinner was great.

Excellent welcome from Laura and staff friendly and genuine throughout.Breakfast was superb - excellent choice and well cooked. I think however that the limited breakfast times may affect some visitors who want an early start eg before 9.30.
Tips:The hotel is perfectly placed for the beach, the castle. the town, Glen Rosa and Goatfell. No real need to bring car - walk from ferry and then access the excellent bus service. Brodick is not pretty but its setting is magnificent and from here you can access the rest if island by public transport.

The owners accommodated us arriving late in the evening after our original ferry was cancelled due to the weather, and they were very friendly & welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, which resulted in a restful night. The next morning we missed breakfast as we had to leave early to get to the site where we were working, but the owner visited us an hour later with hot breakfast sandwiches, which was above and beyond any service level we've ever had before. To say we were delighted is an understatement! We will definitely be returning here when working back on the Island.
Tips:Plenty of parking (we were in a transit van), beautiful property, close to Brodick ferry terminal so very easy to find.
