Spotlessly clean entrance, breakfast room and bedroom With one way system in place - all so important in this Covid world. Colin and June were really friendly hosts and wore masks at all times and kept socially distanced which made us feel very comfortable. Lovely choice for breakfast. We’ll definitely stay again!

Colin and June were very attentive and hospitable hosts. Lovely B&B in a great location in Lamlash. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. Would definitely come back.
Tips:A simply beautiful and majestic island with lots to see and do. The drift inn also did a lovely meal. The cheese shop and distillery’s are also worth a visit. Lovely island with lovely people.

Our first visit to Arran and my wife and I feel we were very lucky with our accommodation. June and Colin could not have been more helpful and provided a great base for us to see Arran. The range of choices at breakfast would have put a far larger Hotel to shame. A highly recommended place to stay

Have been to Lilybank few times now and there's really no other place we like to go to. Colin and June are so accommodating and approachable. The breakfast is amazing and nothing is too much bother. Hope we can get back to see them again soon.
Tips:Get around the island to check out the seals, red deer etc or just sit by the water and look at the amazing views

6th September 2020:
We had a fantastic stay here. Everything was spotlessly clean, breakfasts were excellent, the location is stunning. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and friendly, and were a mine of information when we needed some advice. Easy parking. 'COVID precautions' were comprehensive but easily followed and were highly reassuring. Faultless, thank you both!
Tips:Book your evening meals in advance, as currently the local establishments are operating at reduced capacity. However, in all the establishments we tried they were worth it. Excellent walks are available locally, many more available a short drive away. Additional shops and restaurants are available in Brodick or Whiting Bay, both of which are less than ten minutes drive away. However, don't stray too far from Lamlash - it's beautiful!

Hi Colin We had a really great week with you, even given the current conditions. As usual your accommodation is spotless, your breakfasts are great and so fresh and both you and June are a mine of information. We will and have recommended your B&B and will certainly do so again. Hope to see you both again the next time we visit Arran.
Tips:The Pierhead Tavern and the Lamlash Hotel are worth a visit for evening meals. If you golf there are some lovely courses especially Shiskin. If you go in August beware of the midges. Plenty of places to walk and some stunning scenery.

19th August 2020:
We greatly enjoyed our visit to Lamlash, and appreciated the friendly helpfulness of Colin and June Richardson at the Lilybank Guest House. What was especially important for us was the ways in which they went out of their way to make things easy for one of our party, who is blind, and another, who had recently broken a collar-bone.
Tips:We found tasty food at (i) the Pier Head Tavern, and (ii) the Glen Isle Hotel next door. Things to do: we enjoyed the prehistoric stones circles and standing stones at Macrie, and the waterfall at Glenashdale.

16th August 2020:
Despite all the problems with Covid 19 Colin and June had taken sensible precautions and we felt perfectly safe and not hassled. We were given a warm welcome although we arrived early and throughout the stay we felt like one of the family. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day and the situation was next door to one hotel with food and five minutes walk from two other pubs, also with food.
Tips:Glenisle next door was friendly and the food was 8\10 but there were insufficient staff on and waiting times were rather long. The Pierhead Tavern was very good with a decent menu and three real ales (I am not a whisky drinker) but is closed Wed. and Thurs. We did not try the Drift Inn but perhaps should have. The Island is beautiful and the real "Must Visit" is the Arran Heritage Centre at Brodick.

15th August 2020:
A most pleasant mix of 'gaelic languages' for helpful conversation, advice on local amenities and very accommodating.
Tips:Unfortunately some places of interest closed due to Covid 19; for Golfers 2 'trying hilly' courses are open, evening dining the Pierhead Tavern and Lamlash Golf Club both highly recommended but forward booking is vital. If going round the 55 miles of the Island watch out for the pot holes!

A very enjoyable stay at Lilybank with a host and hostess who thought of everything to make you feel at home. Position of the rooms overlooking Holy Isle particularly on a sunny day was magical.

23rd July 2020:
A very friendly guesthouse that provides a homely atmosphere and sees to all your needs. The owners were always approachable and very helpful. Social distancing in times of the Corona pandemic was well organised and strict cleanliness granted. As it was difficult to find take-aways or restaurants open at the time, we also appreciated that it was no problem to use the dining room (actually meant for breakfast only)or even ask the owners to heat up the meals we bought in the supermarket.
Tips:During Corona times, bear in mind that the very few food places open on the island close early, except supermarkets. The variety and beauty of the island scenery and hiking / climbing etc. opportunities should more than compensate for this!

Great place to stay. Our hosts went the extra mile to help store our bikes and dry our wetsuits. The front double room with sea view was spacious and the bed really comfy (firm mattress). Good to have access to a guest lounge and fridge. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking to go back.
Tips:Book a table for dinner as there’s a short supply for the weekend nights. The Brodick castle is currently closed for renovation but the walk outside it was pleasant. Swimming in the bay was fab as was the cycle round the island

Lovely views from bedrooms facing the village green and safe car parking a bonus. Very impressed and would return again.
Tips:Had a meal at The PHT nearby which was very nice, varied menu, tasty. Did try The Lamlash Bay hotel but busy, reservation needed (was mid-week too). I believe the Pier Cafe was good for daytime snacks. There are lots of pleasant villages if out in the car, Arran Foods & Kitchen shop in Lamlash a good place for gifts, chutneys, jams etc. Brodicks Fiddlers excellent for lunch. Otters and seals can be spotted on Kildonnan beach. The Coffee Pot in Whiting Bay very good for meals and snacks.

This is a lovely wee B&B right on the shore opposite Holy Isle. Very easy to get to from Brodick for those coming without a car and walking distance to places to eat, supermarket and some gorgeous views - whether seaside, or heading up into the hills nearby. View out of our room was just fab. Bed was comfy and room nice and clean and nice touches with fridge space available downstairs and wee tray with tea/coffee etc. So, great location and pleasant space to be in, but Colin and June were best of all. Colin and June are the perfect hosts. You are made welcome the moment you arrive with a tour of Lilybank and it's facilities. The Lilybank is perfectly placed to tour the island whether on foot or by car. The rooms are cosy and have everything you require. There is a residents lounge which you can use any time. Colin and June have provided a fridge where there is milk and small jugs to take up to your room for the tea and coffee facilities and also if you buy anything that needs to be kept chilled until you leave. On our first evening we bought a bottle of red wine and sat in the lounge watching TV and gazing out to Holy Island, so relaxing. It's been 20 years plus since we last stayed at the Lilybank and all I can say is as perfect as the last time we stayed.
Tips:The Glenisle Hotel next door to the Lilybank serves exceptional meals a little more expensive than the average but well worth it and the staff are amazing. Also, the Pier Head Hotel is worth a visit.

A very warm welcome from excellent hosts. It was so good to have the freedom to use the house at any time of the day and also the use of the fridge. The house was lovely and comfortable and we felt quite at home. Breakfasts were perfect and we had a great choice. All in all we had a perfect stay and would highly recommend Lilybank.
Tips:The highlight for us was the tour of the island with its many spectacular views. The Arran aromatics is well worth a visit and we bought more than we meant to but came away well pleased. The Arran cheese factory is also a must.

This B and B is brought to life by the lovely Colin and June who made us feel so welcome. We especially appreciated Colin contacting us prior to arrival to offer booking us in for a meal at a local restaurant. The breakfasts were delicious and we liked being able to use the lounge in the evening to spend time with our family. Thank you so much!
Tips:Book your ferry at the same time as your accomodation, we didn't and had to travel much further to use the non bookable ferry. Glenashdale Falls and Giants Graves a great walk and beautiful views from the top. Fab Indian Takeaway in Lamlash. Don't be put off by torrential downpours, beautiful rainbows are your reward!

Tips:Dont eat at the Pierhead hotel nice gaff staff very pleasant but chef must have had a bad day, or they had a stand in.

Owner Response:Thank you for taking the time to submit a review, it is greatly appreciated. With regard to the half hour breakfast window, it is valid to note that whilst there is a half hour window to come into the Dining Room for breakfast, however once in guests may sit a long as they wish.

As soon as we arrived we were made very welcome by the proprietor Colin who carried our bags to our room. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. There is a residents lounge and also a fridge for residents which is very useful. Fresh milk is provided to use in your room which we thought was particularly good. Breakfast was served in a lovely sea view room. There is a good choice and everything was cooked to perfection. Nothing was too much trouble for our hosts and we would thoroughly recommend this B&B.
Tips:The Pierhead tavern which is almost next door has very friendly staff and serves good food at reasonable prices. It does get busy though so it's best to book if you want a meal. We liked the fact that dogs are not allowed where people are eating. The Pier cafe in Lamlash serves very good homemade food, again at very reasonable prices. Also the Lochranza Hotel is very hospitable. We enjoyed scones and excellent coffee there when our ferry was delayed. A warm welcome, a very enjoyable stay with an excellent view. Friendly hosts, we felt immediately at home. Good breakfast. A nice lounge where travellers can meet.
Tips:It surprised us that you really need to book a table for restaurants. Be early to book. When relying on the buses for transport this more or less steers the day. It appears that you cannot count on finding a table in a restaurant in the place that you currently are during a walk. Arran is great but if you have the time go to the mainland and visit the Highlands (North and North-West). Above Loch Lomond the scenery is stunning!

Tips:Arran is beautiful all over. We travelled as a couple, moved around the island in buses and were mainly interested in walking and spotting and photographing wildlife. Our favourite walks were to Glenashdale Falls, and around Lochranza Castle and Brodick Castle. Nice welcome, without being overwhelming, like some places. Lovely cooked breakfast, everything fresh as could be. Our upstairs room overlooking Lamlash Bay was worth every penny! Stunning. Colin and Julie obviously have a very good rapport with regular visitors to Lilybank. We felt quite at home.
Tips:The Lamlash Bay Hotel offers the most amazing chicken curry, really fruity and tasty. Take a stroll along the Arran Coastal Way section which runs through Lamlash, very pleasant.

We have been to lilybank guest house a number of times over the years and have always been delighted with it, always very clean, and breakfast is delicious sets us up for the day, looking forward to future visits, Colin and June are always extremely welcoming.
Tips:The restaurants in Lamlash are good, and you are sure to find something that suits, and within walking distance as well, which is a bonus. We always g to jam factory to get stocked up, the cheese factory is a must, but on a nice day it is good to find somewhere quiet to just sit and enjoy the view.

We had a wonderful four nights stay at Lilybank Guest House. Colin and June were very friendly and welcoming, so was Baggins, the elderly cat. Fabulous views of Lamlash Bay and Holy Isle, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, lovely room, excellent breakfasts with plenty of choice and very generous portions. Can't wait to go back.
Tips:Lots to see and do on Arran. Walking, golfing, horse riding, beautiful beaches, fantastic scenery wherever you go, lots of places of interest to visit if the weather is not good. We had our evening meals at Lamlash Bay Hotel and Pierhead Bar, both excellent, good food and friendly staff. We also had afternoon tea in the beautiful riverside gardens at Lagg Hotel. We found all the people we met in bars, cafes, shops, etc were extremely friendly and helpful.

Everything was well organized and looked after. From the very first moment when we met Colin till we said goodbye. Breakfast was excellent and it kept us going until dinner. We would like to come back soon.
Tips:We recommend the Pierhead Tavern in the neighbourhood for good food, local beer and, if you are lucky, live music. The walk to the Glenashdale Falls and the Giant's Graves is not to be missed. Another good restaurant we tried was the Creelers, next to the Arran Aromatics shop.

So grateful to you both for such a warm welcome and for being so accommodating before, during and after the Arranman race. Lilybank Guest House had THE best location and was perfect in every way. Your rooms were lovely, the breakfast delicious and the living space ideal. We really enjoyed our visit to the island and Lamlash was a great base for exploring and walking as well as a lovely environment to sit and look out to sea.
Tips:Excellent meals at both the Glenisle Hotel next door and the Pierhead Tavern up the road. I would recommend both. Wonderful walk up Goat Fell with views to die for - fairly arduous, but an easy route to find from the Arran Distillery next to Brodick Castle. Brodick Castle grounds (NTS) are well worth a visit, especially the lovely walled garden.

I was so impressed with both my hosts and the B&B itself. I was competing in the Arranman Half-Ironman and both Colin and his wife were incredibly accommodating, helping to make the experience as smooth and comfortable as possible.
Tips:I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone. It has a fantastic location a stone's throw from the beach; it is clean, comfortable and efficiently run.
