Very welcoming hosts at the Glenartney. Absolutely nothing to fault. Breakfast was outstanding. In the future will stay here again and recommend to friends and family.

Tips:

Make sure you book restaurants in advance at busy periods but you don't need to book if its a quiet time of the year (Autumn/Winter Months).

Only a one night stay to visit relatives. Glenartney is very conveniently located for our relatives, Nice room, lounge area and home made cake, t and c available when you sit in lounge(s). Lovely breakfast - buffet and cooked. Home made bread and locally sourced produce.

Tips:

So much to do on Arran. We like the Brodick Bar - consistently good food and service.

Incredible guesthouse and perfect hosts. It is apparent the hosts work really hard and have created something very very special. Immaculately decorated and very clean with loads of little extras like home baking, two lounges for guest use, extra bathrooms you could use for a bath, lots of recommendations about the island. We’ve stayed in Aaran a few times and this was -by far- our nicest visit because of Glenartney.

Tips:

Ross and Hannah will provide the tips! They recommended Little Rock Cafe- which is a fabulous spot for lunch (best on island), despite it’s unassuming front.

The room was comfortable with a wonderful sea view and there was ample additional space if you wanted somewhere to go and read. The breakfast was fantastic and very efficiently served. There were nice touches, such as being able to get a jug of fresh milk for your room and fresh cakes/biscuits for you to help yourself to every afternoon. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Tips:

We loved the standing stones, a bit of a trek, but worth it. The Heritage Museum was also great, with a lovely café and friendly staff. You can use the café without visiting the museum for a charge of 50p per person (though we were allowed in for free on the 2nd day as we had paid for the museum the day before). The Distillery in the north was also a great wet day visit.

The bedrooms were comfortable and tastefully decorated, as was the rest of the Guest House. The breakfast selection was excellent and the staff were friendly, helpful, hard working and knowledgeable about Arran. The Glenartney is in a good location close to the Ferry and other amenities in Brodick. It is in a slightly elevated position which offers lovely views over the bay to hills.

Tips:

There are several hotels/restaurants in Brodick offering a range of good local food. Brodick Castle and gardens are well worth a visit. Lots of lovely local walks and beautiful scenery.

The house is in an excellent location & is tastefully decorated & spacious. Ross,Hannah & the lady who served our breakfast were all friendly and helpful. So many lovely touches, beautiful Arran toiletries in the en suite, menus fro local restaurants in the guest lounge & the most delicious home made cake set out for an afternoon tea treat! The breakfast was also excellent with a fantastic selection of fresh fruit as well local produce for the cooked food. We wished we had booked for a longer stay. We loved our visit. Thank you

Tips:

The house is in very easy walking distance of restaurants & we enjoyed a lovely meal st the Brodick Brasserie where the staff were friendly & helpful & happy to chat & share local knowledge. So much to see on Arran but we enjoyed a wonderful woodland walk to the Kings Cave.

This was probably the best B and B we have ever stayed in. Everything that could be done to make guests comfortable was done. The breakfasts were excellent and the hosts always helpful. Having good coffee available to make and drink in the lounge areas along with homemade cakes was most welcome.

The Glenartney is a beautiful guest house. It is very clean with modern furnishings and several comfortable lounges to relax in. As well as tea and coffee making facilities in the room, they provide a communal station in the common area with different varieties of tea and coffee as well as homebaking. The breakfast room is bright and everything is spotless, even the tea pots were polished! The owners couldn't help enough, whether it was offering more breakfast items or advising guests on walking routes or places to go. The cooked and continental breakfast was excellent and the bed was comfortable. Definitely recommended.

We had a lovely warm welcome on arriving. not only were there the expected tea making facilities in our room, but you could help yourself to the tea/coffee making machines downstairs & enjoy with some home baking in the lounge areas- which we promptly did! our room was compact but the view from the window more than made up for that & we would happily book the twin room again for our girlie getaway! overall the house felt clean and cared for. The breakfast was also amazing with so many choices of hot and cold food inc GF , veggie etc if required. We felt very at home here and for a B&B it certainly went above and beyond. thanks Glenartney for making a good weekend break great!

Tips:

We decided to drive round the whole island in the full day we had there. we managed this while doing 3 walks. we stopped for the walk out to Fallen Rocks and stopped at lochranza castle( free) for lunch. travelled on to the Machrie stone circles and burials which is a good easy walk... just careful you dont miss the car park - it basically a break in the hedge... then finished our day with a walk up to the Glenashdale falls and giants graves above Whiting bay. lovely view here over to the Holy Isle. Fantastic day which did not feel hurried - amazing atomospheric Arran - we will be back. only thing to watch out for on the island is getting booked for dinner- especially if you want to enjoy any music. book your table for the time the music starts or you will find your table will be booked for someone after you and you cant stay to enjoy it. You must take a look at the heritage museum in Brodick - loads of information and some fun stuff for the kids there. you can walk there and back mostly along the beach and over the golf course watching the ferries come and go! lovely island and lovely people.

Close to Brodick Ferry terminal even if walking. Extremely friendly welcome received from Ross on arrival. If you’re looking for quiet this is definitely the place to stay. Home baking was laid out in the lounge and you are invited to use the fridge to chill drinks etc. Breakfast was plentiful and great quality.

Tips:

There is a folder available in the lounge which holds information about places to eat and drink within walking distance.

2nd September 2019:

Excellent place to stay, most comfortable, everyone is extremely friendly. Wonderful breakfasts. Two comfortable lounges. One with a good collection of maps, guide books and literature about Annan and/or hill walking. The other has a good collection of games and books for those who like to be comfy in front of the fire. Home baking every afternoon (donation to the Mountain rescue). Coffee and teas available to make yourself and access to the fridge to cool your own wine. Plenty of cups and glasses.

Tips:

Ask Ross about local restaurants and places to see, he is knowledgeable and helpful. Do not miss out on Ross' bread at breakfast! Worth coming back for this alone.

25th August 2019:

Our room was described as a 'cosy double' and we had been advised in advance that it was small. Having stayed at innumerable B and Bs a room of this size would, however, normally only ever be offered as a single. A top sheet to use instead of the quilt on a warm night would also have been welcomed. Breakfast was good, as was the service. The Glenartney appears to operate more as a small hotel rather than a B and B and is therefore less relaxed and 'homely ' than many.

Tips:

The Brodick Bar is an excellent restaurant, if a little expensive. The bar meals at the Douglas Hotel are also very good, especially the 'sandwich menu ' available until 5.oo PM. Places on Arran worth visiting include Kildonan, Blackwaterfoot (the Best Western Hotel serves excellent coffee after 11.00 am) and the Mara Fish Bar in Corrie for fabulous seafood- but get there by 12.00 noon to be sure of a seat in high season.

Absolutely lovely team, Ross, Hannah and the team are superb- from chatting to guests and providing an amazing breakfast! ( lots of locally sourced foods), to baking their own bread and sweet treats- and providing homemade cake for guests to enjoy in the afternoon, The Glenartney is our B&B of choice now. You are left alone in peace at The Glenartney, but if you need info, advice etc the team don’t hesitate to assist. We had to change our ferry the day of departure which meant tight timing for breakfast. Ross made sure we had time to eat and we got the ferry.. thank you Ross and team! Lots of touches at The Glenartney including a lovely outdoor seating area to enjoy the view from and a fridge to store items in were excellent. Very tastefully decorated and well maintained building. We had damp wetsuits in our vehicle from kayaking and we even had the offer of a drying area to help get them dried out. They really know what travelling guests need and provide so many extras. This was our 2nd visit and we will be booking a 3rd very soon.

Tips:

Superb location, less then 10 minute walk from Brodick ferry terminal and has views onto Brodick beach and bay, very quiet location. Post office at bottom of road, pubs and restaurants nearby. Recommend a trip to Corrie Hotel too for the beer garden and you pass Arran Cheese, Arran Aromatics, and The Wineport - ( another superb beer garden!) en route from which is accessed the route to Goatfell...We also recommend the 3km woodwalk to Lamlash which starts just up the track from The Glenartney. This is an easy walk which drops you into Lamlash, viewpoints on way too ( walking boots required). So many other things to do, ideally get a day pass for the bus to move around, very reliable but they do stop quite early in evening and Sundays are reduced timetable. Walks to Glen Rosa also superb, bring midge spray though! Overall Glenartney is a great place to stay. 5 stars from us.

99% perfect, and that's being fussy. A really well sorted and presented guest house, with friendly people and really good standards. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the breakfasts excellent.

Tips:

It's a short (perhaps 10 minute) walk from the ferry and main bus stops, so you really can visit without a car - we did and it was fine. The local eatery (Bar & Brasserie) is very close by but felt expensive and in our opinion not good value. Goat Fell - you need to be fit and confident to get to the top, but if you are lucky enough to get there when it isn't draped in cloud (we weren't) I am sure the views are amazing. Brodick Castle gardens are worth a visit - we think for all ages. Don't rely on the buses 'joining up' - if one is delayed due to traffic or dithering numpties or whatever, the connecting service won't wait around for more than a couple of minutes. If you get stuck, though, it'll be a beautiful place to get stuck!

We thought this property was incredibly clean, comfortable, affordable, and conveniently located. We really appreciated the care put into making the guesthouse feel like guests were really at home. No detail went unnoticed. Thank you!

Tips:

We ate at both restaurants suggested by the guesthouse - Douglas Hotel and Crofters. Go to Douglas Hotel for high quality food at a reasonable price and to Crofters for genuine, friendly service and good food. They also have live music, which we missed. Don't hesitate to ask the staff for any recommendations and take advantage of the common spaces they've created as this is rare to find.

Clean accomodation for a bed and breakfast. Unfortunately the room even for one night was very small and worse we did not have an on-suite bathroom. The Glenartney did supply bathrobes to go down the corridor to get a bath or use the bathroom. But this was inconvenient for us and took away the experience. Breakfast was very good and the friendliness of the staff we met was also good so a shame we had such a small room and no on-suite facility.

The shower was perfect with plenty of hot water. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t live up to my expectations with rain for three days. Typical Scottish weather.

Tips:

If you are walking, there is a shortcut past the playground swings which leads to a path along the sea and through the golf course and back to the road to the castle. The castle was worth a visit and you can return by steps through the woodland gardens back down to the distillery and road. This is a beautiful path but very slippery in the rain

Ross and Hannah were fantastic hosts. Nothing was too much bother. Plenty of choices for breakfast. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The cakes in the afternoon were a lovely treat along with tea and coffee. The 2 lounges are great for a bit of peace and quiet. Plenty of parking in and around the guest house.

Tips:

The Mogabout is a must. Get to see parts of the island that are not easily accessible. Alex the guide us brilliant. The Parlour do great pizzas (on a par with Dominos) and the ice cream is lovely as well. Very reasonable prices.

Very welcoming and friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Great choice of home cooked foods for breakfast. Lovely cakes out every afternoon. Everywhere is spotless- couldn't ask for more.

Tips:

Lots of golf courses on the island, nice restaurants and coffee shops. Good shopping too for Arran products e.g. Arran cheeses, Arran aromatics, Arran fine foods and of course Arran Distillery, second one opening this week.

Ross & Hannah provided a very warm welcome. The millionaire shortbread & banana bread were a highlight in the afternoon. Breakfast was excellent with home made bread, preserves etc plus a wonderful full Scottish. Glenartney is tastefully decorated with comfortable rooms albeit a little small. Will definitely return.

Tips:

There is an easy walk over the hill to Lamlash where there are a couple of good pubs & access to Holy Isle. Glenartney is only 5 minutes walk from the Douglas Hotel which has a lively bar, good food & outdoor seating with views across the bay.

Lovely house, garden, hosts and staff. Very comfortable facilities. We had an excellent stay. Two small suggestions about the room Iorsa - 1. toilet roll holder is in an awkward position behind the toilet; would it be possible to have a free-standing toilet roll dispenser? 2. Could a coat hook for the back of the main bedroom door be considered?

Tips:

We recommend the Brodick Brasserie for quality of food. Eighteen69 at Auchrannie was also good. We found Cruize at Auchrannie rather functional and less impressive.

We completed the Clauchlands Loop mountain bike trail found on the Arran bike club website - we really enjoyed it but would describe it as VERY hard! The Ormidale Hotel for music/disco at the weekend but also for some good hearty grub. For a "classier" dining experience, try the Douglas or Crofters. I can't recommend things to do as that's a personal choice but if you like a pretty easy walk, Brodick to Lamlash via Corriegills or Clauchland Hills is a cracker.

Easy to find and well sign posted. Very accommodating staff and nothing is too much trouble. Very knowledgeable and informative of what to do on the Island. Bedroom clean, comfortable and quiet. Lots of options for breakfast and accommodating of all needs.

Tips:

I visited Arran for a couple of days to climb Goat Fell and explore the island. The route up Goat Fell is walking distance from Brodick and can be done via the Fisherman's walk to Cladach. There are a small number of good gift shops in Brodick and several restaurants. Not so much for a lone traveller, ie pubs, but the walks will compensate. Coire Fhionn Lochan, from Thunderguy, is worth a visit, as is the beach at Kildonan. These are no more than half an hour's drive from Brodick.

Had a great couple of nights at the Glenartney - arrived early and were able to change into our hiking gear for a climb up Goatfell via Glen Rosa and drop our bags off early in the room. Everything in the place is very well thought out - nice lounge areas with coffee and tea, and beautiful home baking in the afternoon. Nice artwork and cards on sale too with money going to the Arran Mountain Rescue - after a near miss on North Goatfell more than happy to donate to them! Lovely breakfast as well, couldn't fault a thing. Lovely sitting out in the sun in the evening with a beer overlooking Goatfell. Would definitely recommend the Glenartney for anybody thinking of staying on Arran

Tips:

Would highly recommend Crofters for an evening meal. Glen Rose is a lovely walk up to the Saddle, quite a lot of scrambling from there to the summit of Goat Fell though. The Arran Coastal Walk is a more gentle ramble, with lovely views across to Ayrshire and Holy Isle.

The Glenartney is a superb guesthouse situated within easy walking distance of the eateries, etc. in Brodick. In addition to the many guest amenities and extras not always on offer in b&b accommodation it is tastefully furnished and decorated. Our cosy and spotlessly clean double had a wonderful view of Goatfell. The owners are absolutely delightful. They were extremely helpful and informative re local amenities and walks, etc. and the breakfast was one of the very best we had in Scotland.

Ross and Hannah are excellent hosts, always having time to answer guests' questions, give directions, recommend a restaurant, place to visit, etc. The breakfast was very good; the room amenities and size, sparse. The ever present sweets for the guests to help themselves to are a nice touch. Overall, it's a great spot to stay!

All staff are polite, friendly and helpful. We received a warm welcome and staff were helpful in suggesting optional walks for us and providing information about them. Very good knowledge of the island for walking. The accommodation was extremely well presented and very comfortable. The breakfast had a fantastic selection of hot and cold food, including freshly baked bread. The food was delicious and cooked to a high standard. I was impressed with every aspect of the accommodation and service provided.

Tips:

Arran Coastal footpath is a varied and beautiful walk, and is a great way to experience Arran. Wooleys of Arran has a shop in Brodick and it is a fantastic bakery.

The above rating say it all. This is a well run B&B, well located in a quiet residential area (slightly uphill) but within walking distance of the seafront with its restaurants and hotels. There is both off-street and on-street parking. Although we didn't take advantage of it, there was a lovely outside seating area with a fabulous view.

Tips:

We went to The Fiddlers Music Bar and Bistro, looking forward to live music, however, we were disappointed as it was the only night (a Thursday) when they didn't have any! The food and ambience were good though. Lots to see around Brodick.

The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The only issue I had was that I could not close the bathroom window so it got very cold in the bathroom at night and I had to keep the bathroom door closed to keep the room warm. The Glenartnay is fantastic. Family run with extremely high standards across the board. The rooms and views are fabulous but with the personal touch. The food is amazing with breakfast being top notch and the cakes throughout the afternoon were lovely when you’d come in from a long walk. Ross and Hannah couldn’t do enough for you and were so welcoming. If you were to stay in Arran for any amount of time, I’d recommend you make The Glenartnay in Brodick your first choice.

Tips:

There aren’t many ‘pubs’ in Brodick so found it harder to find somewhere to settle after our evening meal. A visit to ‘fiddlers music bar and bistro’ on one of the nights they have music on is recommended. You can stay and watch after your meal too which is great. To view the island you will need a car but it’s easy to get about and lots of stopping points where you can see the spectacular views and wildlife. Finally, no matter where you go for food, you’ll be in for a treat. Majority of food is local and the people are proud of their produce. It may be slightly pricier sometimes, but well worth it.

We were made extremely welcome throughout our stay in the Glenartnay. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clear as were the ensuites. We loved the fact there were two lounges, so plenty room for guests. An added bonus was the lovely cakes for us to enjoy when we came in to relax before going out at night. Great that we were able to have dinner one night in the hotel, as Ross & Hannah set a table for us and we got a take a way. The breakfasts were really good, with lots of fruit as well as a choice of cooked breakfast, beautifully cooked.

Tips:

Our favourite place to eat is the Brodick Bar which doesn't look that good from the outside but the service and food is fantastic. There is an option for getting there earlier in the evening and having a good early bird deal. The staff were very friendly and gave us good service. There is a brilliant pool at the Auchrannie, well worth a visit. I paid £8 to go in which I thought was a bit expensive until I realised I had the pool to myself for 40 minutes!! Brodick Castle - well worth going to. The Brewery - again worth a visit Lochranza, Whiting Bay and Lamlash - worth going to Loads of good walks including a must Goatfell if you enjoy walking

Ross gave us such a warm welcome and took time to answer our questions. He has an easy style and always seemed to be around when we had questions or just wanted to chat. He even let us borrow a great book of walks for the whole of our stay. We would have been lost without it. The whole house is very clean and well decorated. A lot of effort has gone into the décor and maintenance. We enjoyed relaxing in the lounges. There are two sizeable lounges which guests are encouraged to use. Ross's wife Hannah whips up some wonderful home-baked cakes each day which is a good reason to come home early to relax with tea and cake. Our bedroom was exactly what we needed and the bed was of a high quality and very comfortable. Breakfast is perfect and includes wonderful fruit selection and the fried food includes the best black pudding I've ever tasted; it's from the Arran butcher.

Tips:

Book early, I'm sure this is a popular place and they are not open in the winder months. Don't ignore Ross's advice to book ahead. We made that mistake and had a hard time finding somewhere to eat. We recommend The Pierhead Tavern in Lamlash for dinner but you must book ahead. Goat's Fell is in every guidebook but there are plenty of other nice walks. We did a valley walk and a coastal walk, both great fun.

We were impressed by every aspect of our stay, from the friendliness of the proprietors, quality of the facilities to the lovely breakfast.

Tips:

If blessed with good weather, a stroll along the seafront before or after a meal in the bistro (which is a short walk from the Hotel) is well worth it.

Thanks, Hannah and Ross, for a wonderful stay. You made us so welcome and the Glenartney felt like a real home from home while we were there. We couldn't have chosen a better guest house and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to family and friends. Hope to see you again soon!

Tips:

The Glenartney is ideally placed for exploring the island and just five minutes' walk from the waterfront and local shops. The Arran Bistro and Brasserie is also nearby - lovely restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere and excellent food. Ditto the Fiddlers Bar! Arran is a fantastic island with many attractions for walkers, art lovers, wildlife watchers and anyone interested in the landscape and history of Scotland.

Enjoyed our stay and liked the breakfast and the hotel facilities

Tips:

There was not a great variety of local eating facilities and they tended to be expensive. Has we stayed longer we would have explored Whiting Bay and Lamlash. There are quite a few things to do especially if you have a car but the castle was still closed for renovation at the time of our visit.

Service was excellent and the breakfast was delicious. Would be nice if they offered other meals, but this wasn't a massive issue.

Tips:

Hotel leads onto a nice 3 mile walk to lamlash through the woods. You can then chose to take the boat to Holy Isle, visit the Buddhist Monk retreat, tackle the hills, or just walk round the island with some beautiful views. There's a few nice pubs in Lamalash that also do real ales such as the Pier head Tavern, if you're feeling thirty after the long walks. Back in Brodick there's a nice pub called The Ormandale which does lovely food.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - should have stayed for longer to see more of the island. The cakes in the afternoon were good, and also the information about where to go and what to do and the board games in the lounge.

Tips:

We ate in the Fiddlers and the Brodick Bar and would recommend both. When we went to the Castle it was still being renovated and the red squirrels didn't want to appear, but the grounds are beautiful and the play area looks good for children. The beaches we visited (Lamlash and Kildonan) have lovely sand.

Lovely warm welcome from Hannah and Ross. They have put such a lot of thought into all the things that make guests feel welcome and at ease - in addition to the beautiful public areas and bedrooms is a beautiful garden with seating area. There are two lovely lounge areas for guests, tea and coffee making facilities next to lounge as well as in bedrooms and a supply of lovely cakes. Another lovely touch is the little voucher that can be used to claim a sausage for your dog - I know my little Sheltie was well pleased with that.

Tips:

B&B is just a few minutes walk from several restaurants and the beach. Also just minutes from Brodick ferry terminal. Brodick Castle and gardens, Blackwaterfoot, Kildonan and Arran Distillery at Lochranza all worth a visit.

Breakfast was good was able to have my nvegie sausages and weetabix. It's the little touches such as being able to get a small jug of milk to take to your room for tea and coffee. Although it doesn't have a restaurant this doesn't matter because if u want takeaway e.g. Chinese they will set up a table in the dining room For YOU if u ask. For anybody thinking of booking I would get in there fast or u will miss out on a good experience.

Tips:

There is a chineese, and a chip shop also a cafe which closes at five. There are various hotels which serve food. There is brodick castle,Arron aromatics, heritage museum, the creamery if u want to see how cheese is made, there is also the distillery and visitors centre which has a small shop and reasonable size cafe. This is located at lochranza. If you don't have a car there is a very good bus service.

Tips:

Standing stones at Machrie moor, Arran distillery, goatfell trail. Douglas hotel for dinner, and great haggis pizza at Cruise at Auchrannie. Little Rock cafe was fantastic, baked goods yummmm

10th October 2017:

Most fantastic breakfast. Room very nice. Beautiful sitting room. Banana bread at night and coffee (like Krueg) excellent and 24 hours. Run & owned by young man (25-28 yrs old) for the last 15 months. Fantastic helpful service. Only problem was lack of parking spaces on property (only 4 cars). Street parking available. All parking street and on property on fairly steep slope, but it works. Parking the ONLY complaint.

Tips:

Owner recommends booking dinner at one of 3 restaurants in town as it can get filled up fast. Several additional restaurants available in town of Lamlash (also requires advanced booking before evening meals). One restaurant (Fiddler) has live music -- nice. Opposite ferry terminal is a great second-hand store (used goods) that is neat. A few doors down from that "goodwill" shop is a take-out fish and chips -- fantastic chips. Also a Bistro in that same location but don't know how good it is. Beer brewery and tours (11am and 2pm only) is nice -- small group tour -- only 6 in our group. A 1/2 hour over at Blackwaterfoot (other side of Arran from Brodick go get a cup of coffee/tea in the hotel lounge and watch the sea swans and birds in the afternoon. Take some of the other cross-island roads for fantastic sites as well as the other coastline roades. Stay two nights. Before you cross over to Arran, pre-book (reserve) your ferry for coming over and going back -- fills up fast. Stay two nights at B&B -- well worth it.

The stay was lovely and everything else was great, but we did think the shower was very awkward and like trying to shower in a polythene bag. Otherwise, we enjoyed staying very much. The guest lounges were very nice and very good coffee!

Tips:

Live folk music at Fiddlers was brilliant. Food very good too, though not cheap.

Great accommodation with very friendly and helpful staff. Second visit to Glenartney and will hopefully be back for a third. The breakfasts are lovely, as well as the slices of home baking that you can help yourself to! Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere - nice change to go to a hotel that has a personal, rather than a commercial, touch.

Tips:

Lots of great walks - Glen Rosa, walking from Brodick to Lamlash via the coast, King's Caves at Blackwaterfoot, Drumadoon Point etc. Fiddlers is good for a meal out and some music. Brambles at Auchrannie is also very nice if you are looking for some fine dining.

Ross and Hannah were on the mainland with there baby about to be born. We were warmly welcomed by Nanny and Grandson Jack (Who had the best Scottish accent on the island). Had a fantastic stay on the island. Weather was sunny and The Glenartney is an excellent base to see the island. Breakfast is cooked to order and is excellent. The whole family feeling experienced at Glenartney makes this hotel the place to stay on arran

Very friendly and welcoming. Our stay was for 2 nights and we enjoyed the clean tidy room on the ground floor and the choice of breakfast material (esp the porridge with honey !!)

Tips:

We were there to take in old haunts from our honeymoon, but when it came to evening meal, we tried the Fiddlers around the corner. Not only was it excellent fare, but the following night was Folk night, so we re-booked and ate there again. Try the Arran Madeira malt. Smoooooooth.!!

Very welcoming and friendly. Two comfortable lounges, so didn't have to sit in bedroom if wanted more space. Excellent breakfasts in terms of choice and quality. Efficient service.

Tips:

Lovely view from my bedroom window of bay and hills. Arran is a great little island and easy to get around with a variety of scenery and plenty of walking opportunities. If you don't like being outside when it rains, there is not that much to do inside. Brodick Bar and brasserie had a good selection of food and all tasted delicious.

Very friendly and helpful. Great having two lounges, plenty of room for guests if it's raining. I liked the ability to get a hot drink at any time of the day. Only criticism was the TV on top of the wardrobe was a bit awkward to watch, might work better on the wall - but not an issue for us. The lemon drizzle case was excellent.

We spent 3 nights at the Glenartney. Ross, the host, made us feel right at home. Everything was clean and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent--local meats, lots of fresh fruit and good coffee. We've been back stateside for 2 days and are already dreaming about coming back.

Tips:

The Brodick Bar and Grill is just down the street from the Glenartney--exceptional food and good service as well. Try Fiddler's for dinner. Excellent food and on music nights, you will be lucky indeed if Joni Keen is singing.

The room was very clean and comfortable as was the rest of the house. The breakfast was great liked the way you could start of with the buffet excluding the fresh fruit and the fresh fruit salad. The cooked breakfast was great as well all cooked by Hannah. Enjoy our time there and would return in the near future.

Tips:

The Fiddlers Restaurant was great, beautful meal and good live music.Need to book though its very busy.ALso nice to visit the Auchrannie Resort for a snack and refreshments. At a cost you can use the swimming pool and gymn. There is also a tour bus that goes round the Island ,but we did not know about that till later. We used the local bus to tour the Island and it took hours.
