Tips:

We liked Ormidale pub for food, Douglas quite good too. Lamlash good for a wet morning, and at least one of the party will return with climbing shoes for a play on the Cat Stone (roadside N of Corrie) and The Mushroom (boulder in Merkland Wood).

Really enjoyed our stay, was a good comfortable base to enjoy Arran from. A couple of minor comments, the kitchen knives aren't particularly sharp and the grooves make it hard to cut with too. The upstairs bathroom shower holder isn't good enough to hold the hose for a shower. A washing machine would be a useful addition to the apartment. Appreciated the high chair for the little one, that makes a big difference!

Tips:

If you have a little one, the Playbarn at the Arrachnie resort is pretty good and it's only a 15 minute walk away. Also its a short walk down to the beach at Brodick and there is a reasonable playground there as well. The Old Byre on the other side of the island also has a big outdoor play area for kids which is good (provided the midges aren't out in force as it's in a rural location)

Sleeps 4-6 depending upon intimacy, warm, dry, all mod cons and looking out over one of the most beautiful views in the world.

Tips:

Brodick is (to me at least) surprisingly lively, even in February. Arran is wild, beautiful and quiet but also well-served for restaurants and pubs. I recommend the walk cross country by Strathwillan Burn to Lamlash where the view across the bay to Holy Isle is extraordinary as is the marmalade for sale in the coffee shop.

Driveway is small but you need to reverse on which can be awkward, but there is parking on the road. Excellent view from the property, which we will miss when we get home. All in all a wonderful relaxing holiday which i would recommend to any one.

Tips:

Little rock cafe on the beach front was excellent value for money, friendly and very helpful staff. The whisky distillery at lochranza well worth a visit. Would avoid cafe if you can. Slow service which doesnt help if youre on a timed tour to get to. Lamlash lovely place to visit.

Owner Response:

Good morning, I am disappointed to hear you required more towels during your stay and never once mentioned it to me when I asked daily is everything ok for you anything you need? They are in the cupboard up in the bathroom up stairs for you to help your self too. I wish you had said to me and they would have been provided like the extra bedding you asked me for, not once was I asked for new towels and would have happily provided them. To be fair whilst you guys were staying in the cottage the cottage did get messy with all the muddy boots from the golfing, the term self catering is to allow you the freedom of staying in your own wee house, cooking and cleaning up after yourself's is normal but if asked we would happily give it a clean for you. I did ask if you guys required anything each day I saw you and always aim to provide whatever you need. I appreciate your honest review but I feel as nobody said when I asked it is a bit unfair.

A great base from which to explore Arran. Close enough to all the attractions in Brodick but quiet too for a truly restful stay. Very welcoming and close at hand if we had encountered any issues. Very reasonably priced and although there were just the two of us the cottage could easily accommodate a family of four.

Tips:

The bars and restaurants are within walking distance so good if you want to have a drink. Fiddlers is great for live music and a good pint of Arran blonde! For food we preferred the Douglas hotel. On a wet morning the pool at auchrannie is well worth a visit. The bread at Woolleys is lovely and goes well with the local cheese. Everything was fantastic, house was so ideal for our family. Very child friendly as my 2 year old couldn't get her hands on anything she shouldn't be. Only thing that was wrong, and its a very minor thing is that the shower in the bathroom is very temper mental. It kept going freezing and then roasting, but everything else was spot on and we had another shower to use which wasn't like that and also the bath to use. Would definately come back and stay at belvedere cottage.

Tips:

This cottage was modern, warm and had great view. The owner was next door and was very friendly but we hardly spoke to him because the cottage was perfect. Beds were very comfy, kitchen was was equipped. The local shops were near enough to nip to for provisions. We couldn't have asked for more. I would have given 5 for location if we were on the sea front but I did know this wasn't going to be the case before we booked. It was exactly as was described. Lovely view of the bay and Goatfell.

Tips:

We arrived without a car but managed to hire one on the island for £30 a day so we could use it to explore the island freely. We had forgotten to bring the paper part of our license but phoned the DVLA at the car hire place who confirmed our details.

This is our third stay at Belvedere Cottage in less than a year so that speaks for itself. Although the accommodation is one double and one twin room,in extra folding bed in the upstairs bedroom makes it perfectly manageable for a family of five. On this visit to Arran we were unable to take our car over as the ferry was fully booked so the location of Belvedere really came into it's own for us. It's literally a 5/10 minute walk from the ferry terminal, passing the co-op to stock up if required. The accommodation is very well maintained and has everything we would look for (including a dishwasher - and dishwasher tablets!). We'll be back.

Tips:

Everything in Brodick is within 5 minutes walking distance and Arran Aromatics, Arran Cheese company etc are also an easy, and lovely, walk away. We did some much longer walks directly from the cottage and it is entirely feasible to climb Goatfell, leaving from Belvedere. However it is hard to beat sitting in the living area of the cottage and gazing at Goatfell in all it's glory.

Would have appreciated a larger saucepan. Quilts too warm, summer weight would have been better. Service and staff not really applicable to us.

Tips:

Do visit Arran on a Plate, food and service excellent. The fact that we have been to Arran so many times speaks for itself. We have never tired of our holidays there and have seen it in all weathers except snow. A magical place.

Cottage is modern, very well-equipped, comfortable. It had everything we needed.

Arran is well worth a visit, good if you love the outdoors, walking, bird-watching, etc. Brodick Castle and Gardens should not be missed.

Brilliant Cottage to stay in. Handy for everything and everything provided. We would not hesitate to recommend this property

Tips:

Taste of Arran - lovely. We went for lunch. Thyme café OK but EXPENSIVE. Over £16 for 3 small coffees and three scones, only two of which included jam. Bilslands great for coffee. Indian Carry-Outs/Chinese carry-outs tasty and handy - saves in the washing up!!

20th April 2014:

As a family of five, we found this cottage to be an ideal base for a holiday on Arran. the location is great, a short walk to the front at Brodick and with great views over to Goatfell. The cottage is extremely well appointed with pretty much everything you'd hope for - and more e.g dishwasher - with tablets! The beds are extremely comfortable and bath/shower facilities ideal. We will definitely plan to go back as it provided great value for money.

Tips:

Lots of great walking. Cycling with children from Blackwaterfoot is easier as the roads are quiet and much less hilly that some of the roads from Brodick. The outdoor activity options provided at Auchrannie offer many options with great customer service.

Compact, but cozy and well equipped little cottage with amazing views. Access into driveway was difficult but not really necessary as there was parking on the road just outside.

It was a fantastic week at your cottage, a great base to visit all the golf courses and the rest of the island. The cottage was wonderful with every thing we needed. We told you about the TV and reading light but these did not spoil our stay one bit. I hope we will be able to come again.

Tips:

The Arran Golf Pass is a great deal if the weather allows you to play all seven courses. Brodick Casle is well worth a visit (save it for a rainy day). We enjoyed Arran on a Plate again. Brodick golf club house is a good, friendly place for a drink at a good price.

14th April 2013:

Had a lovely stay at Belvedere cottage, it suited my daughters and I to come and go when it suited us.

Tips:

Easy to walk to Brodick castle and visit Arran Aromatics and cheese shops en route, cafe there did a great coffee. Was disappoined Balmichael visitors centre was not open as we specifically set out and bought bus tickets to go there. Chinese carry out is very handy to take something back to the cottage rather than cooking.

Very friendly and helpful.

Tips:

Nice shops in brodick, especially a shop called Red Door. Lovely walks and lots of places to drive too and just get out and walk or have a coffee and a cake. Very relaxing and nice places to eat. Had a bar lunch at the Douglas hotel in brodick, lovely and not too pricey.

A lovely cottage, ideally situated, close to Ferry and shops. A good base for touring the island.Very clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds. Warm and cosy. Friendly owners.Would definitely recommend Belvedere to our friends.

Tips:

Arran on a Plate serves delicious food. The coffee shop on the way up to Brodick Castle makes a good cappuccino and tasty scones. On the west coast, the golf club near Blackwaterfoot serves great lunches. We really enjoyed the trip around the distillery at Lochranza. Beautiful coastal walk from Blackwaterfoot to the King's Cave and beyond. Big thanks to Angus Lambie(Brodick Garage) who rescued us and repaired the car. Despite some inclement weather, we had a wonderful week sightseeing on this beautiful island.
